To Dry or not to Dry? That is the question...

Many of today's systems come with a heat attachment which some tanning technician's use to 'dry' clients down after their spray tan. They simply take off the spray gun and 'blow' heat onto the client.

Well nobody like's feeling wet and sticky after a spray tan but is applying heat the best way to deal with this issue?

You'll have read some previous blog comments and articles that talk about DHA (Dihydroxyacetone) the ingredient that makes the 'magic' happen in a spray tan.

If so, then you'll know that DHA; along with Erythrulose (another ingredient used in some spray tanning solutions); is derived from sugar beet and are sugar based products.

So applying heat to sugar based products is likely to make your clients 'stickier' than they were before!

Much better to find a tanning solution that contains a cosmetic alcohol or Witch Hazel Extract. Both these product cause the solution to dry almost instantly on application to the skin.

Obviously in humid conditions, clients will be stickier than normal, however it only lasts about 5 minutes max,
